Mass Ornament, performance
Contemporary Australia: Women
Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane
2012
Mass Ornament takes it title from Sigfried Kracauer’s essay of the same name. This work considers Kracauer’s argument in the construction of a human architecture, in this case an ephemeral performance as opposed to a material ornament, within an architecture designed to house material objects. Mass Ornament engaged with the GSO's and Staff of QAG / GOMA for a one off performance on the opening weekend of Contemporary Australia: Women.
